Oxford, MD, adopted the 2012 IBC and IRC with amendments, as set forth by the Maryland Building Performance Standards (Maryland Code, Public Safety Article, § 12-501 and COMAR 05.02.07). Oxford, MD, Municipal Code Ordinance No. 1207 (adopt and amend IBC) and Ordinance No. 1208 (adopt and amend IRC).

The Maryland Building Performance Standards (Maryland Code, Public Safety Article, § 12-501 and COMAR 05.02.07) follows the Maryland Building Rehabilitation Code which does NOT adopt IRC Appendix J (which provides guidance on existing buildings) as part of the code.

Section 1607.12. Minimum Roof Live Loads. Roofs shall be designed for a minimum live load of 20 pounds per square foot or Ordinance No. 1207 International Building Code Page 8 designed for the minimum snow load, whichever is greater. 

Existing Buildings

The Maryland Building Performance Standards (Maryland Code, Public Safety Article, § 12-501 and COMAR 05.02.07) follows the Maryland Building Rehabilitation Code which adopted the 2012 IEBC. Because Oxford, MD, follows the MBPS, they adopt the 2012 IEBC as well.
